Al Ahly’s assistant manager Sayed Moawad has revealed his side’s intention to secure the Egyptian Premier League title against El-Maqassa on Monday.

Al Ahly currently top the Premier League table with 75 points, 12 points ahead of second-placed Misr El-Maqassa, who they will face on Monday, May 29 at 22:00 CLT.

“We are seeking to secure the league title against Misr El-Maqassa to fully concentrate on the African Champions League,” the former Egypt international told the club’s official website.

The former Trabzonspor and Ismaily full-back added that the absence of the club’s duo Abdallah El-Said and Souleymane Coulibaly could affect the team, but they have full confidence in all the players.

Abdallah El-Said picked up an injury against Coton Sport, while Coulibaly travelled to England on Thursday without the club’s permission due to family reasons, according to Dan Chapman.

“The 2-0 victory over Coton Sport in the African Champions League raised the players’ spirits before El-Maqassa game. The players are concentrating on securing the Egyptian Premier League title,” he added.

A draw against Misr El-Maqassa on Monday will be enough for the Reds to lift their 39th Egyptian Premier League title.
