Al Ahly Chairman Taher slams Souleymane Coulibaly
Al Ahly Chairman Mahmoud Taher slammed Ivorian forward Souleymane Coulibaly after he travelled to London without the club’s permission.
The Ivorian forward travelled to England on Thursday without the club’s permission, sending Al Ahly’s director of football Sayed Abdel-Hafiz a text message, telling him that he will explain his reasons later.
Dan Chapman, sports lawyer and senior partner at Full Contact – the agency that represents Coulibaly – denied that the Ivorian player is intending to leave Al Ahly, but he is got a family emergency to deal with.
Taher said that Coulibaly has to return back to Cairo to explain the reasons behind his unexpected travel, and if he got offers from other clubs, he should discuss them with the board first. He added that the way the player travelled, without informing anyone, is totally unacceptable, so he has to return back to justify himself.
The former Tottenham forward joined the Cairo giants last January from Scottish side Kilmarnock for $800,000 after nearly joining arch-rivals Zamalek.
Al Ahly’s player of the month for April has made 12 appearances for the Reds so far, scoring six league goals, as his side needs only one point to lift the Egyptian Premier League title.
