Mali was crowned U-17 African champions after beating Ghana in the final in Libreville, Gabon, on Sunday.

Mali defended their title with a 1-0 victory over Ghana. Even though the Aiglonnets nearly missed participating in the competition due to a FIFA ban on the West Africans a few months ago, the team dominated the game and scored the only goal in the 22nd minute of the breathtaking finale.

Malian Goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad heroically saved two penalty kicks Ghana earned in the first half hour of the game.

After winning this title, Mali joined Nigeria, Ghana and Gambia who are the only teams who were able to win the tournament two times.

Both teams as well as Guinea, who defeated Niger in the third place, will head to the FIFA World Cup hosted by India in October as the African representatives.
