Al Ahly midfielder El-Sulaya highlights importance of Wydad game
Al Ahly midfielder Amr El-Sulaya has highlighted the importance of his side’s upcoming game against Wydad Casablanca after the Red Devils sealed the league title.
Al Ahly have been crowned Egyptian league champions with four matches to spare after drawing 2-2 with title rivals Misr El-Maqassa on Monday. This marked the Red Devils’ 39th league title in their history and their second league in a row.
El-Sulaya, who joined Al Ahly in January 2016, expressed his happiness at winning the league with the Red Castle and spoke about the team’s upcoming goals.
“We deserved to win the league this season because we were the best. It is an important title that makes the fans happy,” El-Sulaya told Al Ahly TV channel.
“We’re also aiming to win the CAF Champions League title and we have an important game against Wydad that requires our full concentration,” the 28-year-old player added.
Record eight-time African champions Al Ahly, who top Group D with four points, will host Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca on June 4 at Borg El-Arab Stadium in their third group stage match.
“Our two games against Wydad are very important because they will ensure we finish top of the group,” El-Sulaya concluded.
