Ali Maaloul called up by Tunisia for Egypt encounter
Al Ahly defender Ali Maaloul has been called-up to the Tunisia squad for their upcoming international fixture against Egypt.
The 27-year-old has been in form and is certainly one of the reasons behind Al Ahly league title triumph this season, scoring once and assisting four times in 22 Egyptian Premier League appearances.
The Eagles Of Carthage rely so heavily on Ali Maaloul, as he represented them 39 times and was their first-choice left-back in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, which they were knocked out of in the quarter-finals.
He made his Tunisia debut in 2014, pulling on the shirt every year since then and Tunisia’s next game against Egypt will be his fourth one against the Pharaohs, winning twice in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers and losing once in a friendly back in January.
Maaloul will join the Tunisia squad after Al Ahly’s Champions League encounter with Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca on Sunday, June 4.
It’s worth mentioning that Tunisia will host Egypt on Sunday, June 11, as part of their qualifying campaign for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
