Former Newcastle United’s Cheick Tiote passes away at the age of 30
Former Ivory Coast International Cheick Tiote has sadly passed away after collapsing on the training ground with his Chinese side Beijing Enterprises.
The former defensive midfielder is believed to have suffered a heart attack during a training session before rushing to the hospital where he sadly passed away.

“It is with deep sadness that I confirm that my client Cheick Tiote sadly passed away earlier after collapsing in training with his club Beijig Enterprises,” Tiote’s agent, Emanuele Palladino said.
“We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. We ask for all your prayers,”
Tiote is well known for his six year spell in the North East of England with Newcastle United making 150 appearances with the Magpies, before moving to China last February to join second tier’s Beijing Enterprises.

The 30 year old midfielder had also played for Anderlecht and FC Twente, where he won Belgian first division and Eredivisie titles respectively before completing his move to Newcastle.
Tiote had enjoyed an impressive career with his country, having 55 caps with Ivory Coast. He was part of the squad that won Ivory Coast their second ever African Cup of Nations in 2015 after beating Ghana in the final.
