Egyptians once again produce great performances as Raneem El Welily, , and Karim Abdel-Gawad record crucial wins to revive their hopes of progressing to the next round of the PSA Dubai World Series Finals, while Mohamed El Shorbagy sealed a spot in the semi-finals.

After their opening day losses, El Welily, El Sherbini, and Abdel-Gawad needed to win their second matches to keep their hopes of progressing to the next round alive.

El Welily won her match against England’s Alison Waters 2-0 (16-14, 11-7) to secure joint second place in Group A with PSA Women’s Youth Player of the Year winner Nouran Gohar, who fell to first place Camile Serme 2-1 (6-11, 14-12, 12-14).

In Group B, Nour El Sherbini extended her winning streak over Malaysian Nicol David to eight games after winning 2-0 (11-6, 11-9). El Sherbini currently sits in second place with one win and one loss.

On the third and final day of the group stages, Gohar and El Welily will play Walters and Serme, respectively, in Group A. El Sherbini will face Massaro, who has guaranteed her spot in the semi-finals, in her final game.

In the men’s side, the El Shorbagy brothers both won their second matches to cement themselves in first place in their respective groups. beat Simon Roesner 2-1 (11-8, 4-11, 11-6) in Group A, while Mohamed El Shorbagy beat Ali Farag 2-1: 8-11, 11-8, 12-10 to claim first place, and leave Farag in second in Group B.

Abdel-Gawad kept his qualification chances alive with a 2-0 (11-7, 11-6) over Nick Matthew, who is in fourth place.

On June 8th, Abdel-Gawad will face Marwan El Shorbagy in Group A, while Farag will face James Willstrop and Mohamed El Shorbagy will face Gregory Gaultier.
