Salah shortlisted for Roma player of the season award
Egypt International Mohamed Salah has been nominated for AS Roma’s 2016/2017 player of the season award, following an impressive season at the Italian capital.
The Egyptian winger has recorded 15 goals and 13 assists in 31 league appearances this season, helping AS Roma to finish second in Serie A, which guaranteed them a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
The 24-year-old is shortlisted for the club’s player of the season award alongside seven names, including Serie A top scorer Edin Džeko, Belgium’s Radja Nainggolan, Argentine defender Federico Fazio, and team captain Daniele De Rossi.
Arsenal loanee Wojciech Szczęsny also joins the list with Italy’s Emerson Palmieri and Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman.
The Egyptian is tipped to win the award after his outstanding performances, which made Jürgen Klopp interested in signing him this Summer.
The former Chelsea winger has been linked with a move to Liverpool, however, reports say the Reds withdrew their interest in signing the Egyptian, after failing to reach an agreement with the Italian club.
