Egypt announce date for Uganda World Cup qualifiers clash
Egypt national team staff led by coach Hector Cuper announced the date for the team’s clash with Uganda in the fourth round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Ihab Lehita, the national team director, revealed that the match will be played on September 5 in Borg El Arab stadium in Alexandria.
The match will take place a week after both teams face off in Uganda, and the double-header will be crucial for both teams’ chances of qualification.
It is worth mentioning that the Pharaohs were victorious in their last encounter against Uganda earlier this year in the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon as they won 1-0 through a late strike from Abdallah El-Said. Egypt is currently on top of Group E with six points followed by Uganda in second place with four points, Ghana third with one point and Congo at the bottom of the group after losing two matches.
Cuper’s men recently fell to a 1-0 defeat against Tunisia in their opening group stage match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Rades Stadium.
