OFFICIAL: Congolese striker Kasongo joins Zamalek
Ittihad of Alexandria forward Kabongo Kasongo has officially joined Zamalek on a four-year deal, the White Castle announced on Tuesday.
The Congolese forward, who joined Egyptian Premier League side Ittihad of Alexandria from Guinea’s AS Kaloum last season, scored 12 goals in 24 appearances for the Alexandria-based side.
The 22-year-old joined the White Knights on a four-year deal for a fee of EGP 15 million. He’ll reportedly receive a salary of $250,000 per season.
Al Ahly had reportedly entered the race with Zamalek to sign Kasongo before the White Castle announced reaching an agreement with Ittihad to acquire the services of the Congolese player.
Zamalek, who sit third in the league table on 57 points, are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the new season. This marks the Cairo giants’ second signing as they announced the capture of Ghanaian striker Benjamin Acheampong from Dakhleya earlier this month. Acheampong scored 10 goals in 29 games for Dakhleya this season.
