Liverpool’s style of play suits Salah, says Mido
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Ahmed Hossam Mido expects Liverpool to finalise a deal to acquire AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah soon.
Several sources have reported over the past two weeks that Salah is on the verge of completing a move to the Premier League side, claiming that the Egypt international has already agreed personal terms with the Reds.
Mido, who currently coaches Egyptian Premier League side Wadi Degla, believes that Jurgen Klopp’s style suits Salah.
“Salah will definitely move to Liverpool. It’s just a matter of time,” Mido said.
“Liverpool’s style of play suits Salah perfectly and Jurgen Klopp’s style suits the Egyptian winger,” he added.
The former Egypt international, however, explained his concerns about the potential move and the obstacles Salah might face in case he joined the Anfield club.
“I’m not concerned about the competition Salah will face in Liverpool but I just fear he might not be able to cope with the higher tempo of playing in the Premier League,” Mido said.
The 24-year-old had a disappointing stint in the Premier League when he joined Chelsea from Swiss side Basel in January 2014. Afterward, he moved to Serie A side Fiorentina on a six-month loan then spent one season on loan at Roma, before making the move to the Giallorossi permanent in the summer of 2016.
The Egyptian winger, who was most recently nominated for AS Roma’s 2016/17 Player of the Season award, has recorded 15 goals and 13 assists in 31 league appearances this season, helping AS Roma finish second in Serie A, which guaranteed them a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
