Walid Azarou’s agent Hamid El-Bouzidy confirmed that his client will be joining Al Ahly this summer even though the player received French and Dutch offers.

Azarou is set to join the Red Devils from Moroccan side DHJ as the young talent became Hossam El-Badry’s main target after Souleymane Coulibaly fled without the club’s permission.

“Walid Azarou will move to Al Ahly,” El-Bouzidy confirmed to DMC Sports TV channel. “He received French offers from Nantes and Auxerre in addition to offers from Holland and the UAE but Azarou preferred Al Ahly.”

The 21-year-old finished the 2016-17 campaign as the Moroccan league’s fourth top goal scorer with 12 goals, leading his side to the second place, which guaranteed them a place in the CAF Champions League next season.

“My client is different than Malik Evouna, but of course the Gabonese player was a good start that helped players move from Morocco to Egypt,” said the agent. “Evouna did not possess defensive capabilities, Azarou however possesses such capabilities in addition to being a centre-forward.”
