USM Alger defender Ayoub Abdellaoui is optimistic about his side’s ability to defeat Zamalek in the CAF Champions League group stage.

The White Knights’ previous match against the Algerian side ended in a thrilling 1-1 draw, which maintained Zamalek’s first place position in Group B with 5 points.

The Algerian side hosts Zamalek on Wednesday, June 21, in a must win game for both teams, and Abdellaoui expressed optimism about his side’s ability to beat the Whites at the 5 July Stadium.

“It’s very clear that we should concentrate on this game. We are properly preparing for this big match. We have to win in order to stay in the race for the quarter-finals qualification,” Abdellaoui said.

“I think we can beat Zamalek. We almost won in Alexandria, where we delivered a big performance. We must remain vigilant to snatch the three points.

“In my opinion, the victory against Zamalek will be the key to qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals,” he added.
