Walid Azarou: I picked Al Ahly from many offers

Al Ahly signing Walid Azarou revealed that despite having offers from several clubs, he decided to join the Red devils. 

Azarou – who is completing a move from Moroccan club Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi – admitted that he follows the club regularly in light of its popularity and history.

He revealed that he decided to move to Al Ahly regardless of many offers, and that he was keen to keep the word he gave to the club after negotiations with him. He also expressed his great happiness in relation to this move, which he believes is crucial for his career.

Azarou stressed that he would like to win all the tournaments that he would participate in with the club, and expressed his happiness in being in the presence of a group of the best players in Egypt and Africa.

Furthermore, he affirmed that he will strive to gain the confidence of the technical staff led by Hossam El Badry, the manager of the team.

The 22-year-old striker proclaimed that he likes to play in front of fans, crediting the support of the fans in the 12 goals he scored with his former club in the league. Moreover, he pointed out that Frenchman Herve Renard, coach of the Moroccan national team had a major role in shaping his career by giving him the confidence he needed during this recent period.

Azarou added that he knows many of the club’s stars, especially club legend Mohamed Aboutrika and the current stars of the team Abdallah Al-Saed, Ali Maalol, Emad Meteb, Hossam Ghaly, Junior Ajayi and Ahmed Fathi.

During a press conference that was held in Al Jadida city in Morocco to announce his move to the team, Azarou revealed that he favors shirts number 17 and 21, but does not mind wearing any number that is available.
