Zamalek head coach Augusto Inacio expressed his disappointment from the referees’ decisions following the club’s defeat against USM Alger in the CAF Champions League group stage.

USM Alger managed to beat Zamalek 2-0 in Algeria on Thursday in the fourth round of the Champions League. The Algerian club is currently leading the group with seven points while Zamalek fell to third place with five points.

“The referee was unjust to Zamalek and contributed to our loss,” Inacio said. “He helped USM Alger players waste a lot of game time.”

The Cairo giants will next travel to Zimbabwe to face CAPS United in a crucial match before hosting Ahli Tripoli in their final group stage match in July.

“It was a difficult match, we faced an organized and strong team. Our main problem is wasting opportunities,” he added. “Zamalek can qualify to the next round if we defeated CAPS United and Ahli Tripoli, but first we have to solve our problems.”

Mortada Mansour, the club’s chairman, decided to impose a hefty fine on all Zamalek players and the technical staff including Inacio.
