Egypt international Karim Hafez has attracted interest from a number of Ligue 1 and La Liga sides following his impressive performances with RC Lens last season.

The 21-year-old is a man in demand thanks to a series of brilliant performances with RC Lens in Ligue 2, which saw them finish fourth, two points behind champions Strasbourg and only one behind promoted sides Amiens and Troyes.

The former Omonia full-back spent last season on loan at RC Lens from Belgian club Lierse S.K, recording four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.

According to FootMercato, Bordeaux, Nice, Saint-Étienne, Real Betis, Bologna, and RC Lens have all entered the race to sign Hafez this summer.

Lierse S.K. are demanding €3 million for Karim Hafez to leave the club, with RC Lens and La Liga side Real Betis reportedly in the driving seat to sign young Egyptian defender.

Spanish website futbolistos reported that Real Betis are willing to pay Lierse’s asking price, as they are looking to reinforce their squad this summer after struggling in the league last season.

If Hafez joins Real Betis, he will become the second Egyptian player to join the Seville-based club after Amro Tarek, who failed to make a single appearance with the Spanish side.

It’s worth mentioning that Hafez was part of the Egypt squad that reached the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final, making one appearance against Morocco in the quarter-finals.
