OFFICIAL: Mohamed Salah completes Liverpool move
Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah officialy joined English Premier League side Liverpool FC, and was presented by the club on Thursday.
Kingfut had exclusively revealed that the Reds have succeeded in finding an agreement with Salah’s AS Roma for the move after an initial bid was turned down. Salah arrived in London on Tuesday for his medical checks which were rescheduled to Thursday and completed the move after almost one month of negotiations between the two clubs.
AS Roma have confirmed in a statement on their official website that Liverpool paid an initial fee of €42 million for Salah, saying the move will be formally completed when the transfer window opens in England on July 1.
The Italian side added that the deal also includes various additional clauses, worth up to a total of €8m, based on the player and Liverpool achieving certain performance-related targets.
This is Jurgen Kolpp’s second summer signing following Dominic Solanke’s switch from Chelsea.
In the 2016/17, the 25-year-old had his best-ever season since going professional, scoring 19 goals in all competitions for Roma, despite missing almost a month and a half due to his participation with the Egyptian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
At the AFCON in Gabon, Salah was involved in four of Egypt’s five goals with two goals and two assists as he led the Pharaohs to the final, where they lost 2-1 to Cameroon.
