Al Ahly youngster Ahmed Hamdy to undergo trial with Udinese
Al Ahly youth midfielder Ahmed Hamdy is set to begin a trial spell with Italian side Udinese, the Egyptian club announced on it’s official website.
The 19-year-old reportedly wants to leave the Egyptian Premier League Champions this summer having become frustrated by lack of opportunities with the Reds.
Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry has agreed to send Hamdy to Italy and the youngster will undertake a trial at Serie A side Udinese from Monday, August 7 until Wednesday, August 16, according to the club’s official website.
Hamdy has been promoted into Al Ahly’s first team squad by former manager José Peseiro and then featured only twice under Martin Jol. He has failed to make a single appearance for the Reds this season, despite being called-up by Egypt U-20 manager Metmed Gamal for the U-20 AFCON last February.
If successful, Hamdy will be the second Egyptian player to join Udinese after Egypt legend Hazem Emam, who featured for the Italian side between 1996 and 2000.
