Klopp: Salah can win at the highest level with Liverpool
The Reds have officially completed the signing of the 25-year-old Egyptian winger from Serie A side AS Roma on Thursday.
Klopp has hailed the signing of Salah, saying the Egypt international is an exciting addition to the Anfield club.
“Mohamed has the perfect mix of experience and potential – this is a really exciting signing for us,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com.
“He knows the Premier League, he has a pedigree in the Champions League and he is one of the most important players for his country.”
Salah had come close to joining Liverpool from Basel in 2014 but chose Chelsea instead where he had a disappointing stint in the Premier League. Afterward, he moved to Serie A side Fiorentina on a six-month loan then spent one season on loan at Roma, before making the move to the Giallorossi permanent in the summer of 2016.
“His record in Italy has been outstanding and he possesses qualities that will enhance our team and squad. I have followed him since he emerged at Basel and he has matured into a really good player.
During his two seasons at Roma, Salah scored 29 goals in 65 Serie A appearances and became one of their key players.
The 50-year-old coach praised Salah’s pace and hunger and said he believes Liverpool could give him the chance to win at the “highest levels”.
“His pace is incredible, he gives us more attacking threat and we are already strong in this area. I like that we will make it even more competitive.
“Most important though, for us, is that he is hungry, willing and eager to be even better and improve further. He believes in what we are trying to do here at Liverpool and is extremely keen to be part of it. He is very excited about performing for our wonderful supporters.
“He is an ambitious player who wants to win and win at the highest level; he knows he can fulfill those ambitions with Liverpool,” Klopp added.
