Saudi side Al Ahli keeping tabs on Ahmed Hegazy
Saudi side Al Ahli are monitoring Egypt international Ahmed Hegazy ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Saudi reports.
Although he is under contract until 2020, Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah reports that the 26-year-old defender could potentially join his compatriot Mohamed Abdel-Shafy at the Saudi giants.
Al Ahli are not the only team interested in the ‘Egyptian Nesta’, as he is emerging as a potential summer transfer target for English sides West Bromwich Albion and Hull City following his recent displays after his return from his short stint with Italy’s Fiorentina.
The Baggies sent scouts to watch Hegazy in action two weeks ago, while the Tigers are keeping tabs on him as well, with their manager Leonid Slutsky being spotted watching Al Ahly take on Wydad Casablanca and was seemed to be impressed with the towering defender.
Hegazy joined Fiorentina from Ismaily in the summer of 2012 spending three years in Italy, including a loan stint at Serie B outfits Perugia before mutually terminating his contract to join Africa’s biggest club Al Ahly.
It is worth mentioning that Ahmed Hegazy made CAF’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament as he helped Egypt reach the final.
