Cairo giants Al Ahly lifted the Egyptian Premier League trophy at Petrosport Stadium after a 2-2 draw with ENPPI on Saturday.

The Red Castle, who secured the league title for the second season in a row after their 2-2 draw against Misr El-Maqassa in gameweek 30, were held to a draw against 11th-placed ENPPI to miss out the chance to record the highest number of points in one season.

Al Ahly controlled the possession in the first half, which saw Saleh Gomaa create a number of chances for Karim Nedved and Ahmed Hamoudi.

The Red Devils’ first real chance came around the half-hour mark when Rami Rabia’s header went wide. Afterward, a shot by Amr Gamal went inches above the bar.

Five minutes before the break, Gomaa sent a brilliant long pass to Hamoudi whose shot went wide. However, the duo helped Al Ahly break the deadlock a few minutes later as Gomaa set up Hamoudi inside the box to slot home in the second minute of injury time.

Right after the restart, Amr Marei equalised for ENPPI with a free header into Mohamed El-Shennaway’s net.

And ten minutes into the second half, ENPPI were already in front as Salah Mohsen gave his side the lead with an amazing scissor kick.

Gomaa’s efforts paid off as he got his name on the score sheet and levelled for Al Ahly in the 66th minute following a cross from Hamoudi.

Both sides failed to score more goals as the game ended in a draw, with Al Ahly stretching their unbeaten run in the league as they are yet to lose a game in this campaign with two games to go.
