Former Liverpool and Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has thrown his weight behind Mohamed Salah to excel at Anfield next season.

Salah joined the Reds from Serie A runners-up Roma on a long-term deal, becoming the club’s record signing as well as the most expensive African player in history, and Ince believes that fans should be excited about seeing the Egyptian putting on the Liverpool jersey.

“Mohamed Salah will excel at Liverpool next season and Reds supporters should be excited to see the Egyptian walk out at Anfield,” Paul Ince told Sky Sports.

Salah finally penned a deal with the Merseyside club on Thursday, following weeks of negotiations between Liverpool and his former side. The move will see the winger make a return to the Premier League, following a ill-fated spell with defending champions Chelsea.

“I think it’s a good bit of business. I watched him play a lot this year at Roma. He scored a few goals – 15 or 16 this year I think he got, playing on the right wing. He scored all different types – long range, in the box,” Ince said.

“It didn’t really work for him at Chelsea, he didn’t get enough game time I don’t think,” he added.

The former Liverpool midfielder thinks Salah’s revival in Serie A has done him a world of good, contributing towards his all round development as a player.

“But he’s gone away, got his confidence back and he’s come back to a great club like Liverpool and I think he’ll be a great addition to Liverpool and I think the fans will enjoy seeing him play,” Ince added.
