Alain Casanova: Hafez wants to stay at RC Lens
RC Lens head coach Alain Casanova has given comments on Egyptian left-back Karim Hafez’s future in an interview with the club’s official website.
Following a successful loan spell at Lens, the Egyptian international looks to extend his stay in France, but Casanova claims that the situation is complicated with Belgian parent club Lierse.
“The club is satisfied with his [Karim Hafez] performances and are willing to keep him. The player really wants to stay there, but between his desire and the possibilities of RC Lens to meet the requirements of his club Lierse, we are far away,” Casanova said.
According to reports, six European clubs have entered the race to sign Hafez this summer, but Lierse S.K. are demanding €3 million for the Egyptian to leave the club.
Spanish website futbolistos reported that Real Betis are willing to pay Lierse’s asking price, as they are looking to reinforce their squad this summer after struggling in the league last season.
The 21-year-old, who finished last season with three assists in 23 Ligue 2 matches, was part of the Egypt squad that reached the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final, making one appearance against Morocco in the quarter-finals.
