Basketball: Egypt defeat Puerto Rico in the U-19 World Cup opener
The Egypt Youth National Basketball team defeated Puerto Rico 67-65 in the opener of the FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup, which is being held in Cairo.
The hosts controlled the game in the first and second quarter leading 26-13 and 44-27 respectively, thanks to the efforts of Mohamed Osama who was the top scorer of the game with 16 points.
In the third and fourth quarter, Puerto Rico managed to come back into the game and were behind Egypt with only two points but the young Pharaohs sealed the win at the end in an exciting encounter.
Egypt is now top of Group A along with Lithuania, after the latter’s victory against Germany 98-77.
The young Pharoahs are set to play against Lithuania in the second match of the group on Sunday at 20:30 CLT.
