Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry believes his team were better than Zanaco and were not lucky to get all three points in their CAF Champions League encounter.

The Red Devils missed out the chance to battle for the top spot of the group after the 0-0 draw against Zanaco away from home and will have to win the next match against Coton Sport to seal qualification to the next round.

“Our aim was the win in Zambia and get the three points. We missed so many chances to score,” El-Badry told Al Ahly’s official website.

“Zanaco played in a defensive way in both of our matches against them but we managed to pressure them in their area most of the time and they were lucky to get two points from us.”

The Red devils coach said that the qualification to the next round is still in their hands despite being the third in the group behind Zanaco and Wydad Athletic Club.

“I am confident that we will qualify to the next round. Wydad will play against Zanaco and we have a difficult match to win against Coton Sport in Egypt. My players will be up for the occasion and aim for the win,” El-Badry concluded.

Zanaco too group D with 11 points while Wydad and Al Ahly occupy second and third spots respectively with 8 & 8 points. Coton Sport remain bottom with 0 points with one round left to go.
