Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar expressed his views regarding ’s recent move to Liverpool from AS Roma.

Salah became the most expensive African and Arab player with the 36.9 million GBP as he signed a five-year move to the Anfield after a successful season with AS Roma.

Even though the deal was positively backed by former Liverpool players like Luis Garcia, Patrik Berger, Sami Hyypia, Craig Bellamy and Paul Ince, Hamann expressed his concerns regarding the deal as he fears that the young Pharaoh might need some time to adapt to playing in the English Premier League similar to what he experienced during his unsuccessful two-year spell with Chelsea.

“I’m not really sure what to expect from Salah,” Hamann told talkSPORT. “It’s clear he’s a very capable player but we’ve seen it in recent years that some of the best players came to the Premier League and couldn’t adapt to it.”

He added that as much as he’s excited to have him, he is also a bit cautious. “That position is also probably the strongest part of Liverpool’s team,” he said. “With Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino already there, I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion Salah will play.”

Hamann pointed out that Liverpool needs to address other positions too and not just sign forwards and wingers. “There are three or four positions that still need addressing and I would have rather seen them addressed before another winger came in,” he concluded.
