Emad Meteb dismisses retirement rumors
Al Ahly veteran striker Emad Meteb denied completely all rumors claiming that he will retire at the end of the season.
Such rumors circulated after Al Ahly’s 3-1 victory against Coton Sport in the CAF Champions League which helped the Red Devils officially qualify to the knockout stages. Emad Meteb replaced Amr Gamal in the 84th minute almost scoring the fourth goal for his team in stoppage time.
After the match, Meteb bowed to the fans who attended the game in an emotional gesture that some interpreted as a final thank you from the player to the fans indicating that he might be retiring soon. “Bowing and thanking fans does not mean retiring or moving to another team,” the player explained.
“I was very happy to see fans in the stadium again. They had a huge role in supporting players and helped us reach the knockout stages in the African championship. Bowing to them was the least I could do,” he added.
