Liverpool defender Joe Gomez expressed his excitement for the prospect of playing alongside Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah starting next season.

Salah joined the Reds from Serie A runners-up Roma on a long-term deal, becoming the club’s record signing as well as the most expensive African player in history, a deal that was positively backed by former Liverpool players like Luis GarciaPatrik BergerSami HyypiaCraig Bellamy and Paul Ince.

“Obviously he’s a top player and that’s one of the things that comes with playing for a top club like this, you’re playing with top players each and every day,” Gomez told Liverpool’s official website when asked about the Reds’ new signing.

Momo recently joined Liverpool’s pre-season training but won’t be available for the club’s first pre-season friendly against Tranmere Rovers due to immigration rules as confirmed by the club’s coach. It’s unclear whether the issue will be resolved before Liverpool’s second pre-season friendly against Wigan Athletic on Friday.
