Wadi Degla head coach Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ expressed his dissatisfaction towards the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) because of changing the Egypt Cup quarter-final match date.

Al Ahly thrashed Wadi Degla 4-1 on Wednesday eliminating Mido’s men from the competition. The Red Devils will meet either Smouha or Misr El-Maqassa in the semi-final match.

“The EFA informed us that the match will be played on August 13. The match was played one month before its actual date and we were forced to play without the services of 13 of our men since we already granted them their summer vacations,” Mido explained. “This doesn’t happen anywhere in the world.”

The young coach blamed the federation and the way it organized championships in Egypt. “The EFA agrees on match dates with specific clubs like Al Ahly but they don’t do that with clubs like Wadi Degla,” he added.

The former AS Roma and Tottenham striker sent a message to EFA officials Hazem Emam and Seif Zaher asking them to resign. “The national team will most probably not qualify to the World Cup. The Egyptian Premier League is too long and players are exhausted,” he said. “We all saw what happened in our match against Tunisia.”
