Cameroon captain joins Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning
Cameroonian forward Benjamin Moukandjo officially joined Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning from Lorient.
The player who was part of Cameroon’s 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad that defeated Egypt in the final match and won the title, preferred joining FabioCapello’s team despite reported interest from English sides Crystal Palace and Birmingham City.
Moukanjo arrived in China on Wednesday to complete his medical tests and sign a two-year deal to join the club for €5.5 million becoming the fourth Cameroonian in Asia after Christian Bassogog, Stephane Mbia and Olivier Boumal.
Even though the 28-year-old managed to score 13 goals in 25 appearances with Lorient, this was not enough to help the club avoid relegation to the French second tier.
