Al Ahly announce Hegazi set for West Brom medical, out of Cairo derby
Al Ahly have confirmed Egypt defender Ahmed Hegazi is set to join West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan and will therefore miss the upcoming Cairo derby.
Al Ahly announced that the team’s star centre-back Ahmed Hegazi will be out of their clash against Cairo rivals Zamalek in the final week of the Egyptian Premier League, as he’s set to undergo a medical with his new team West Bromwich Albion.
As exclusively revealed on KingFut.com on Friday night, Al Ahly had accepted the offer that West Brom presented to have Ahmed Hegazi on a season-long loan.
West Brom are set to pay a loan fee in the region of €1 million to acquire the 26-year-old’s services for one year, having the option to buy for €4 million.
Hossam El Badry, Al Ahly’s manager, confirmed that Hegazi is out of the team’s plans for the upcoming match with Zamalek.
The former Ismaily youngster was labeled as the ‘Nesta of the Pyramids’ after his breakthrough prior to the 2012 London Summer Olympics, including an impressive display where he faced off against Neymar’s Brazil.
