OFFICIAL: Ahmed Hegazi joins West Bromwich Albion on loan
Al Ahly defender Ahmed Hegazi has officially joined West Bromwich Albion on a one-year loan deal after successfully passing his medical on Sunday.
As exclusively revealed on KingFut.com on Friday night, Al Ahly had accepted West Brom’s offer to sign Ahmed Hegazi on a season-long loan. The Red Devils later confirmed that the player will be missing in the Cairo derby on Monday as he already traveled to England for his medical tests.
West Brom paid a loan fee in the region of €1 million to acquire the 26-year-old centre-back’s services for one year, having the option to make the deal permanent for €4 million.

Hegazi has already joined the Baggies in Hong Kong as a part of the Premier League’s Asia tour, where they’ll compete in a friendly competition against Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool on the 19th and 22nd of July.
The former Ismaily youngster, who had two previous spells in Italy with Fiorentina and Perugia, was labeled as the ‘Nesta of the Pyramids’ after his breakthrough prior to the 2012 London Summer Olympics. The towering Egyptian especially impressed in a display against Neymar’s Brazil.
Earlier this year, Hegazi was one of the main players in Egypt’s squad during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, and was named in the Team of the Tournament as the Pharaohs reached the final match before losing 2-1 to Cameroon.
