Hull City manager Leonid Slutsky all but confirms Elmohamady move to Aston Villa ‘sales are finished’
Hull City manager Leonid Slutsky has all but confirmed the sale of Ahmed Elmohamady and the close of ‘the supermarket’ after a pre-season win.
After a 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers in a pre-season friendly, Slutsky said “We have closed the supermarket. I think nobody (else) will leave the club now. Sales are finished.” Slutsky is talking in light of Jakupovic and Robertson, and Egypt international Ahmed Elmohamady all leaving the Tigers in deals that are basically all but confirmed. Assuming that Elmo has already been sold, he will be the last player to leave the club alongside Jakupovic and Robertson.
All three players have already left the Hull City training camp in Portugal. With Jakupovic rumoured to already be in transit to Hong Kong to undergo a medical with Leicester City. Andrew Robertson’s departure from camp has advanced rumors linking the Scot to Liverpool.
Elmohamady has left Hull City’s pre-season tour in Portugal to seal a £1m move to Aston Villa after the Birmingham-based club triggered the Pharaoh’s release clause.
The former ENPPI and Sunderland player is expected to undergo a medical at Villa Park and complete his move ‘within the next 48 hours’, becoming the sixth player to leave the Tigers since their relegation last May.
Aston Villa have been making many convincing signings to strengthen their side for a promotion battle after being relegated from the Premier League in the 2015/16 season, including former Chelsea captain John Terry. Signing Elmo would make Aston Villa even stronger contenders for a return to the English Premier League.
