Official: Aston Villa sign Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull City
Elmohamady, a product of the Ghazl El-Mahalla youth academy, joined Hull City from Sunderland in 2012. The Egyptian national made 218 appearances for the Tigers and scored 12 goals in total; helping the club achieve two promotions to the Premier League. He was also relegated twice with Hull, and appeared 33 times in the final relegation bound season, getting two assists.
The 29-year-old will be reuniting with former manager Steve Bruce, who previously signed him for Sunderland and Hull City in 2010 and 2012 respectively. Aston Villa triggered the Pharoah’s release clause for a price of about €1m. Elmo joins the Villans on a three-year contract.
Aston Villa confirmed the signing on Twitter in a promotional video on Wednesday after Elmo completed his medical for the Birmingham-based club.

On Tuesday, Hull City manager Leonid Slutsky confirmed that the sales of Elmo, Andrew Robertson, and Eldin Jakupovic will be the final departures from the club as “the supermarket is now closed” to put into Slutsky’s words.
Steve Bruce has already been active in the transfer market as he looks to assemble a squad ready to mount a bid for promotion to the Premier League, signing Chelsea legend John Terry as captain following his release. Villa have been linked with Joe Ledley and other proven Premier League players.
