Michael Owen: Salah is the best transfer of the window so far
Mohamed Salah’s transfer early in the window to Premier League giants Liverpool has hailed many plaudits, the latest of which is Liverpool legend Michael Owen.
Following the support rained upon the most expensive Egyptian player ever by teammates Dejan Lovren and James Milner, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed his long-term admiration of the Egyptian forward.
Now Owen, who has 118 league goals in 216 appearances for Liverpool, has thrown his support behind Salah in a MirrorFootball interview. “I think Salah is a really good signing, he didn’t quite nail it at Chelsea, but he was young at the time.
“He’s gone away, he had a good time at Roma, he’s got outstanding pace and if you’re an attacking player with loads of pace then you’re valuable.”
Owen continued, “they needed to bolster the squad for Champions League football, a higher standard of games, so I think it’s important that they did that”.
Finally, the Liverpool striker commented on the potential of signing Guinean Naby Keita from RB Leipzig: “that could be an amazing signing if that came off.”
Mohamed Salah recently bagged his first goal in a Liverpool shirt. He will be looking to continue that form in his next preseason friendly, against Crystal Palace on July 19th in Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.
