Elmohamady: I am over the moon to be in Aston Villa
The 29-year-old right back officially joined Aston Villa on a three-year-deal after spending five years with Hull City to get reunited with his ex-manager Steve Bruce.
In an interview with the club’s channel, Elmohamady said, “I am very excited to join Villa, one of the biggest clubs in England. As a foreign player coming from Egypt, we all know the history of this club.”
“Leaving Hull and traveling from one part of the country to another is very exciting to me. I am over the moon to be here in a big club like Aston Villa.”
The Egyptian talked about reuniting with Aston Villa’s manager Steve Bruce, after previous spells at Hull and Sunderland, saying, “I have been with the coach for a long time now. He is the one who brought me from Egypt to Sunderland, and after that to Hull. I am looking forward to work with him again. He is one of the best managers I have ever worked with and we will work together to bring the club back to the Premier League.”
On his new teammates, Elmohamady stated, “I have watched the club a couple of times last season, and I have seen some very good players who are able to bring the club back to the Premier League, such as James Chester, my ex-Hull teammate and John Terry, one of the biggest defenders in the history of the Premier League.”
“The start of the Championship is very important. We have to work very hard from the beginning and be able to get those first three points. I can not wait to start training with the lads.”
Elmohamady is set to face his former team, Hull City, in the first Championship game of the season that is set to take place on August 5th.
