Hegazi continues to impress despite West Brom loss to Palace
The match between Ahmed Hegazi’s West Brom and Crystal Palace kicked off with both teams looking to clinch the third place in the Premier League Asia Trophy. West Brom lost on penalties against Leicester and Crystal Palace lost 2-0 against Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool.
The first half started off very slowly with both teams failing to reach the goal for the first 10 minutes. Luka Milivojevic scored the first goal for Crystal Palace after slotting home a free-kick from long range. After the goal, both teams were still playing with a very slow pace but Crystal Palace started becoming more dominant.
In the 36th minute Rondon almost equalized for West Brom but Hennessey stopped him from close range. Before half-time, Bakary Sako scored a goal from outside the box after the ball took a deflection off Hegazi and Dawson and changed direction. The first half ended 2-0 to Crystal Palace and things weren’t getting any better for West Brom.
The second half started much better for West Brom as Hegazi almost scored, but it went just over the crossbar. A minute later Phillips forced a spectacular save from Speroni who replaced Hennessey for the second half. West Brom were much better than Crystal Palace in the second half but they had problems finishing their chances.
The match ended and Crystal Palace won the match and clinched the third place as West Brom finished fourth. Hegazi’s West Brom lost their two matches in the PL Asia Trophy and are now going to head back home. Their next match is a friendly against Dulwich Hamlet on the 25th at 12:00 CLT.
