Craig Shakespeare refuses to comment on Elneny snubbing Leicester
Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare refused to comment on reports suggesting that Mohamed Elneny had rejected a move to the club after a £10 million fee had been agreed.
According to a report by The Sun earlier this week, Leicester were keeping tabs on the Egypt international this summer but the 25-year-old opted to stay in London and fight for a starting spot at Arsenal.
During a press conference in Hong Kong before the Premier League Asia Trophy final against Liverpool, Shakespeare reportedly said “no comment” when asked about Elneny’s refusal to switch to King Power Stadium.
Elneny, who has three years left on his deal with Arsenal, appears to be happy in London despite the limited game time as he featured in only 14 league games with Arsenal last season.
The Egypt international, who joined the Gunners from Basel in January 2016 for £5m, made 40 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal ever since, many of which have come as a substitute or cup game starts.
