Meteb excluded as Al Ahly announce squad for Al-Wahda clash

Al Ahly assistant manager Ahmed Ayoub has announced his 20-man squad that will face United Arab Emirates’ Al-Wahda in the Arab club Championship.

The Red Devils were drawn into group A alongside Algeria’s NA Hussein Dey, Al-Faisaly of Jordan, and United Arab Emirates’ Al-Wahda. They have lost their first game against the Jordanian side and they must win their remaining two games in order to have a chance to qualify to the semi-finals.

Ayoub has decided to include new signings Walid Azarou and Islam Mohareb to the squad as well as team captain Hossam Ghaly, who was left out against Al-Faisaly.

Meanwhile, Veteran striker Emad Meteb, Saleh Gomaa, and Junior Ajayi were excluded from the squad alongside a number of key players including Sherif Ekramy, Abdallah El-Said, Saad Samir, Ali Maaloul, and Ahmed Fathi.

Al Ahly squad:

Goalkeepers: Ahmed Adel, Mohamed El-Shennawy, Omar Wael Radwan.

Defenders: Mohamed Hany, Mohamed Naguib, Sabry Rahil, Hussein El-Sayed, Rami Rabia, Bassem Ali.

Midfielders: Hossam Ghaly, Amr El-Sulaya, Karim Nedved, Mido Gaber, Ahmed Hamoudi, Akram Tawfik, Amr Barakat, Islam Mohareb.

Forwards: Amr Gamal, Ahmed Yasser Rayan, Walid Azarou.
