Mortada Mansour slams ‘lying’ Inacio
Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour has revealed that Augusto Inácio wasn’t denied departure from the club, calling the Portuguese a liar.
A delegate from the Portuguese Embassy in Cairo has arrived at Zamalek premises after Inácio was denied departure from club headquarters, but Mansour denied claims that the manager is being held at the club against his will.
“Inácio is a liar. An investigation is to be carried out after what he said,” Mansour said on Thursday.
“No one held him hostage at the club. He arrived with his assistants by his car and no one held him against his will. He is a liar and I have never seen anyone more disrespectful than him.
“He accused the players and the club’s board before, and if his claims are true we will apologise to him, but if it’s not we will fine him,” he added.
The former Sporting Lisbon manager was named as Zamalek manager last April, but couldn’t guide the team to the Champions League quarter-finals or the Arab Club Championship semi-finals.
The 62-year-old led the Whites in 22 matches this season, with an overall record of 10 wins, six draws, and six losses. The team conceded 23 goals and scored only 28 since his appointment.
