Antwi delighted at inclusion in KingFut Team of the Season
Al Ahly and Misr El-Maqassa forward John Antwi has spoken of his pride at being named in KingFut’s Egyptian Premier League Team of The Season.
The 24-year-old had an impressive second-half of the season, scoring ten goals with Misr El-Maqassa to help his side finish the league campaign in second place [their highest-ever league finish], 11 points clear of third-placed Zamalek.
Antwi started the season with Al Ahly, but was limited to just four league appearances and scored only once against El-Dakhelya, before joining Misr El-Maqassa on loan last January, where he scored 10 league goals in 16 appearances, including a hat-trick against Nasr Lel Taa’deen [the only player alongside Abdallah El-Said to score a league hat-trick this season]. Overall he scored 13 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season.
“I will say I’m really excited for my inclusion because in the first round I wasn’t getting enough playing time at Al Ahly,” Antwi told Radio Silver.
“It was only in the second round I had more match actions when I moved to El Maqasa on loan which aided me to be part of the team of the season. I am really happy for that,” he added.
The former Ismaily forward joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2015 from Saudi side Al-Shabab for a fee reported to be around €1m and he is set to join El-Maqassa on another loan spell this summer.
