Elneny named in Arsenal’s Emirates Cup squad

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has been included in the squad called up by Arsene Wenger to take on the annual pre-season competition Emirates Cup.

Elneny has been used as a centre back in the major part of Arsenal’s pre-season friendly games so far this summer and it seems that the Gunners coach Arsene Wenger plans to depend on the player in this role on the long-term.

Arsenal are set to face Benfica on Saturday and Sevilla on Sunday, with the runner-ups of last season’s Bundesliga RB Leipzig also taking part in the Emirates Cup this year.

The 25-year-old midfielder has reportedly rejected a move to 2015/2016 Premier League champions Leicester City in order to stay at Arsenal, with Turkish reports claiming that Galatasaray have initiated talks to sign the Egypt international.
