Former Manchester United defender Sadiq El Fitouri joins Ahli Tripoli
Former Manchester United defender Sadiq El Fitouri has joined Ahli Tripoli from League One side Chesterfield on a free transfer.
He will play at Ahli Tripoli under the leadership of Egyptian manager Talaat Youssef, who has been coaching the Libyan side since January 2017.
The Libyan defender started his career in the Manchester City Academy before moving to National League North side Salford City, where he made only one appearance before moving to the Red Devils.
He signed for Manchester United in January 2015 on an 18-month contract following a recommendation by ex-United defender Phil Neville, who co-owns Salford City.
He played for the U23 team and helped United become champions of the Professional Development League but failed to make his first team debut with The Red Devils. He then joined League One side Chesterfield in February 2017 after being released by Manchester United.
The 22-year-old made his competitive debut for the Libyan national team in their 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco, which saw the Libyan side suffer a 1-0 defeat.
