Al Ahly to face Al-Faisaly in Arab Club Championship semi-final

Cairo giants Al Ahly will face Jordanian side Al-Faisaly in the Arab Club Championship semi-final in a repeat of their group stage clash.

The other semi-final will see Morocco’s Fath Union Sport (FUS) take on Espérance Sportive de Tunis after a draw was made on Monday. The Moroccan side had finished on top of Group B with five points, while the Tunisians were Group C winners on nine points.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly qualified for the semi-finals as the best second-placed team, after finishing as Group A runners-up with six points, three behind leaders Al-Faisaly.

The Red Devils are Egypt’s only remaining representative in the tournament after Zamalek were eliminated at the group stage, as they finished third in Group B with four points.

Hossam El-Badry’s side will be looking to avenge their 1-0 defeat to the Jordanian side in their group stage opener when they face Al-Faisaly on Wednesday night at Borg El-Arab Stadium.

The other semi-final between Espérance and FUS is set to be played on Thursday at Alexandria Stadium.
