Tarek Yehia to lead Zamalek against Al Masry in Egypt Cup

Egypt Cup
Zamalek interim coach Tarek Yehia revealed that he’ll be leading the White Knights in their Egypt Cup semi-final encounter with Al Masry.

Only days prior to the sacking of Portuguese coach Augusto Inacio, former Zamalek player Tarek Yehia was added to the White Knights’ technical staff. He was eventually appointed as caretaker manager following Zamalek’s loss to Lebanese side Al-Ahed and the departure of Inacio.

Inacio: I wish I could have stayed longer at Zamalek

Zamalek, who were eliminated from the Arab Club Championship after finishing third in Group B behind Fath Union Sport and Al-Ahed, have now shifted their focus to the upcoming semi-final clash with Al Masry.

The White Knights will be looking to win the Cup for the fifth time in a row in an attempt to rescue their disappointing season, which saw them exit the CAF Champions League and finish third in the league table.

“Mortada Mansour has given me the responsibility of managing the team against Al Masry in the Egypt Cup, and I have full confidence in the players to achieve victory,” Yehia said.

“All Zamalek players have the capability to achieve the fans’ dream,” the interim coach added referring to winning the Cup.

The winner of the Zamalek clash with Masry on August 8 will face the winner of the other semi-final between Al Ahly and Smouha, which is scheduled to be played one day later.

Meanwhile, Zamalek continue their search for a new coach prior to the beginning of the new league season in September.

In addition to being a football/soccer and basketball enthusiast, I am currently pursuing a combined BS/MD degree at VCU. I also currently work as a Pharmacy Technician in my spare time.
