El-Badry criticizes Al Faisaly game referee, blames ‘bad luck’
Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry has criticized the performance of the match official during his team’s defeat against Jordanian side Al Faisaly in the semifinal of the Arab Championship.
Al Ahly failed for the second time in the span of two weeks against Al Faisaly after falling for a 2-1 defeat, missing a plethora of chances in the game which saw them being eliminated from the Arab Championship.
El-Badry’s team was already defeated against The Blue Eagles earlier in the competition, when the two clubs faced each other in their group opener where Al Faisaly prevailed by 1-0.
“The referee isn’t the main reason for our defeat but he denied us a clear penalty and allowed Al Faisaly players to waste time, he had a weak personality in showing yellow cards too,” El-Badry said in post-match press conference.
“The bad luck was the reason for our loss. Al Ahly players gave their best, it was a one-side match in the second half while Al Faisaly managed to convert the only two chances they got. We tried to recover the result in the second half but as I said we had a very bad luck,” he concluded.
