Deadline for players registration in CAF competitions extended
The Confederation of African Football “CAF” has decided to extend to the deadline for clubs to register players in African competitions list to August 11.
Al Ahly, alongside Zamalek, Masry and Smouha, had requested from the EFA to allow registering their new signings before the fifth of August, which was the old deadline set by CAF for registering players that are set to participate in the upcoming rounds of the Champions League and Confederations Cup.
However, CAF have announced they extended the deadline date for registration of players to August 11 instead, which subsequently allowed the EFA to open the door for registration on August 9 since the rules obliges clubs to register players domestically before doing the same procedure in CAF.
It is worth mentioning that Al Ahly is the only Egyptian club remaining in African competitions and are set to face Espérance Sportive de Tunis in the Champions League’s quarterfinals in September.
