EFA pass rule to treat Palestinian, Syrian players as Egyptians
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) passed a series of new laws, including a rule that allows each team to register up to two Palestinian/Syrian players as domestic players.
One of the highlights of the release includes the allowance of 30 players to be registered for each team per season, up from the 25 players that the EFA had previously said they would allow.
The majority of the rules discussed in the EFA’s release primarily concerned the registration of foreign players and registration dates. Although the admittance of two Syrian/Palestinian players as domestic players has been passed, it’s illegal to have a non-Egyptian in the goalkeeper position.
In regards to registration dates, there will be a one-week registration period from August 10 to August 17. Free agents may also be registered in the second week of September. The second registration period will be effective for the whole month of January.
