Thompson: Salah will be a huge asset to Liverpool
Former Liverpool defender and England international Phil Thompson has spoken highly of Mohamed Salah in an interview with Sky Sports.
Salah, who signed for Liverpool in a £42m deal in June, has showed signs of last season’s form with Roma, scoring four goals in the pre-season with the Reds so far.
Thompson was full of praise for the Egypt international, saying: “Salah is the one for me. To have Sadio Mane on one wing and Salah on the other, to have such pace in the side and two players who can go past players in the box is such an asset.”
“Our title challenge failed when Mane was missing and I think Salah will be really interesting because he’s got great pace and makes intelligent runs in behind. He will be a huge asset,” the 63-year-old concluded.
Liverpool will face Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, August 5 in their final pre-season game as they prepare to travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford on August 12 to kick-off their new Premier League season.
