Salah, Koka, Warda find out Champions, Europa League opponents
Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool have been drawn against Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the UEFA Champions league Play-off round.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will have their first real test of the season when they play Hoffenheim, hoping to qualify for the Champions League group stages.
Although this Liverpool side could be considered as one of the club’s best in the last 10 years, they still have to prove their quality against a tough opponent who pulled off a surprise top four finish under the Bundesliga’s youngest ever coach, 30 year-old Julian Nagelsmann.
Liverpool will play the first leg in Germany on either August 15 or 16, while the return leg will be played at Anfield a week later on either August 22 or 23.
Liverpool’s last Champions League participation was during the 2014/15 season, when they were knocked out from the group stages after finishing behind Real Madrid and FC Basel.
Meanwhile in the Europa League, Koka’s Sporting Braga will take on Iceland’s Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar and Warda’s PAOK will be up against Sweden’s Östersunds FK in the Europa League qualifications.
Braga will face the Icelandic Champions on the 17th and 24th August, with the second leg at Braga’s home ground Estádio Municipal, while PAOK will face Östersunds FK, who eliminated Luxembourg’s Fola Esch in the third qualifying round, on the same days, but with the second leg played in Sweden.
